Day 45

This Thursday Harrison graduated out of speech therapy. For the last year, he has been seeing Ramona for one hour, once a week with very few missed sessions. When he started speech, he had about 5 words that were intelligible...and one of them was "ma" which had about 10 different meanings! Our SLP Ramona tried to be encouraging, but she was also very clear about how delayed he was with his speech. She told me many times that Harrison would be in speech a "LONG, LONG time...like way into elementary school". Again, my boy proved a therapist wrong (just like physical therapy!). About 3 or 4 months ago, something clicked, and his speech took off. On Thursday, Ramona told me she had absolutely no reservations about graduating him, and did not recommend that he follow up with testing through IPS. He has worked SO hard, and is, quite simply, an amazing little boy.
Every Tuesday for the last year...
"...overall, Harrison's expressive and receptive language skills are at or above age appropriate levels."
